Our Mission & Philosophy
Our Curriculum
Star of Hope Daycare employs the High Scope Curriculum. The High Scope Curriculum is a scientifically, validated research-based system that is based on the belief that children learn best through “active learning”, direct hands-on experiences with people, objects, events and ideas.
This curriculum is aligned with the content of the kindergarten curriculum. Integrated in the content of the High Scope curriculum is language, math, science, creative arts, music, motor skills and social development.
The Pre School Content of the High Scope Curriculum includes:
- A set of teaching practices for adult-child interaction, arranging the classroom and materials, and planning the daily routine.
- Curriculum content areas for 3- to 5 year-old
- Assessment tools to measure teaching behaviors and child progress
- A training model to help teachers implement the curriculum effectively.
Philosophy
At Star of Hope Daycare, we are committed to provide an environment and program that focuses on the growth, development and wellbeing of the whole child. We provide an atmosphere that is warm, open, nurturing and conducive for learning in the early stages of your child’s life. In keeping with our motto, “Nurturing and developing the mind of each individual child”, the staff here at Star of Hope Daycare is fully trained and educationally qualified to ensure that your child is nurtured and developed in an individual basis. It is our belief that each child is unique, as such the needs for proper development of each child is individualized accordingly.
In order to prepare your child for the world of tomorrow we foster an environment that promotes a positive self-image. It is also our belief that to empower an individual, one of the building blocks in doing so is a positive image of one’s self.
In our promotion and adoption of the High Scope Curriculum, we believe that children learn best through meaningful play. This encourages curiosity, discovery and problem solving, which allows individual growth and development. In keeping with this belief, our curriculum content and environment is tapered towards supporting learning and development through play. The program incorporates physical, cognitive, social, emotional, language, self-help and aesthetic areas for the total development of the child. Recognizing that each child is a unique individual, our program is created to satisfy the diverse needs, abilities, interests, and learning styles of each individual child.
